Middleshade

Middleshade is a wee perfumery on a workin lavender ferm in Kinross-shire.

The first lavender went intae the grund in 2015 - a field that had previously grown arable cereals, a diversification project as muckle as onything. By 2017 we were distillin oor ain oil. The perfumery followed aince we had mair o it than we kent whit tae dae wi it.

Rory is a physicist (Oxford) an Marina's a plant geneticist (Manchester, then twa year researchin at ETH Zurich). Neither o them set oot tae mak perfume. The ferm cam first, then the lavender, an the perfumery grew oot o the hairst.

We're Scotland's only commercial lavender ferm. Some o the scents lean heavily on whit we grow - Scottish Lavender maist obviously. Ithers use it mair lichtly, alangside ingredients we source fae suppliers we've wirked wi for years.

Awthing's blendit an bottled by haund on the ferm, in wee batches, an shipped fae Kinross-shire.
